Let’s mix up the ride a bit and explore a new area for holiday lights. Don’t worry, the epic places in Mine Hill and Randolph are going to happen.
There will be a few hills but nothing outrageous. I am taking every shortcut to different neighborhoods I know of to maximize the sights. We’ll even go to the top of that huge condo building on the hill in near Powder Mill, followed by the quaint areas of Mt. Tabor, then through Lake Parsippany and Cedar Knolls.
Bonus points for string lights on your bike, santa costumes, or whatever you can come up with. Dress warm, bring snacks, and be merry. Leave a comment for any music requests. 🚴🎄
Ride stats:
- Distance: About 24 miles
- Meet up: Morristown Green fountain at 6:00pm
- Terrain: Less populated roads with many neighborhood cut throughs; One major hill early in the night followed by mostly cruising slightly down hill
- Temperature: Dress for cold; heavy rain cancels
- No drop ride
- Map on Komoot but may change slightly

Ride recap: During a brilliantly moonlit night, we traveled 26 miles, stopping to see old friends and traversing childhood paths. We explored the area, taking in amazing views from Power Mill Heights (the huge condo on top of the hill) while keeping the cold at bay. Afterward, we warmed up at the diner, enjoying disco fries—certainly a fun night! Don’t miss the next holiday light ride.

Fun! Route looks great. Thanks for leading, Rebels!

Music request: Joan Jett-Little Drummer Boy. I’m sure there will be some heavy metal Xmas mixed in as well. Looking forward to it.
