October 21-22, 2023 Bike Camping Trip; Spruce Run State Park

Pack up your panniers, batten down your baskets, stuff your bikepacking™bags. Its time to look forward to the awesome camping at – Spruce Run State Park in Clinton. Meet at Denville clocktower, ready to roll at 11am on a great 40 mile mixed terrain ride. A lot of gravel gliding on well maintained paths through Randolph, a REALLY nice chunk of West Morris Greenway rail trail, nearly the entirety of The Columbia Trail rail trail with the remainder on mostly quiet roads. Easyish paced ride along this easy route. We will rendezvous with a group of Hackettstown two wheelers in Long Valley at The Coffee Potter about 2pm. Tons of options for food & refreshments along the way and in town a couple miles from camp. We plan on an early dinner at Circa in High Bridge. This event is free but bring a few dollars to help pay for the campsite. No registrations, no insurance, no services are provided, self supported…just a group of friends! Let me know if your coming in the comments below or find my email in the contacts, Adventure and fun awaits!!!

Ride Recap: I met up with Jared, Bill and Dan in Randolph as usual. It was damp but no rain. The Autumn foliage was a sight to see. We me up with Mike, Sunny and Tyler at The Coffee Porter. Enjoyed some miles to High Bridge where we ate like Kings at Circa. Gary joined us for some great conversation. Camping was awesome. a bit windy but that didn’t stop some crazy wolves from jumping in the reservoir. We were disappointed to find out Gronskys was closed for the week. We decided to take the scenic river ride though the Ken Lockwood Gorge. We stopped at the waterfall and eventually made to to Bex in Caifon. Pricey food but pretty good. It seems to like cyclists. Here is a video Sunny made. Also some pics from our great adventure.
