Pack up your panniers, batten down your baskets, stuff your bikepacking™ bags. A BIG adventure is being planned out, I hope you can join! It’s a toughie – 140 miles, 8k’ climbing, this ride is no joke! Your fitness and gear must be dialed. The idea so far is a big 8 shaped loop from Denville clocktower 8a.m. with camping at Stokes State Park. The highlight of the ride would probably be Old Mine Rd!, really long, desolate and scenic.
Here is the easy day 1 and tough day 2 route. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41171780 I like this route though I wonder about food/drink options on day 2, resupply options may be few (maybe none?) from camp all the way to Delaware Water Gap, about 35 miles, we should probably think about packing in a bunch of food on day 1. A bunch of nice resupply options exist on rt206 as we get close to camp. I’m getting really stoked for this ride!

Hi! I’ll make a route for an easy first day to stokes and hard long second day down old mine rd and home. The more I think about that arrangement the better it sounds. What do you think?

Easy Day 1. I like this – we dont need to climb 206S out of camp, and we can roll down river along 611 to Portland. Rt.80 bridge over delaware is ‘interesting’. It’s the Appalachian Trail, great views. I’ve ridden it, it was fine. I tried to avoid steep climbs and kept rail trail sections short.

I’m loving this route. I’ll try to pack lighter for this distance. It’s going to be fun.

I did find that there is a bagel shop and the Hainesville General store in Sandyston on 206. I hate 206 but on a Sunday morning, it might be ok. There is a road called Jager Rd that cuts right to Old Mine Rd. I love my camp coffee and oatmeal but If we choose a store, I could leave the stove and cooking gear at home for a lighter ride.

206 shoulder and sight lines look good up to bagels! Thanks Pete. I could definitely skip cooking and camp coffee or should we share coffee gear? I could pack my tiny alcohol stove and some fuel….

I like coffee at camp. Just one stove will work. We need to tell doug as well.
