Bike Camping!! April 24-25, 2021 Stephens State Park Classic

Our classic Spring Bikepacking trip is back! Meet up at Denville clocktower for a 3pm rollout on Saturday April 24. Embark on a scenic, hilly 28 miles. Easy steady Party Pace, no drop ride. Some great gravel along the way with food & refreshment stops galore. We have the best site at Stephens State Park in Hackettstown, #37. All are welcome to come. Let me know if your coming so I know if we need more than 1 site. Bring a few bucks for the site. Looking forward to another great trip!

  1. There is a place so hidden and weird, forgotten and abandoned. It’s nearby our campsite, maybe a mile away. After dark, we are going! If you dare!

  2. Hey Dean would it be too late to join in on this? I’m a backpacker that is trying to get into bikepacking and seems like a good opportunity. I would likely be bringing a +1 if invited.

    1. Hi, Sunny! Absolutely, it should be another really fun trip and we’d love to have you along. A few of us are meeting in Denville, a few others are meeting up along the way in Randolph. Just let me know if you & +1 are a definite.

      1. Dean, I am in and would love to meet up in Randolph (what time and place?) since I live in Mine Hill. My buddy lives in Denville, but he is on the fence at the moment…

Is there anything I can bring for the group, in terms of food, not sure if we are planning to do dinner over a fire or something like that? I do have a grill basket.

      2. Oh and should I bring a disc? I’m not an official Frolfer, but played DIII Ultimate in College and am decent with an Ultrastar.

  3. Coolness. There is a trail head here in Randolph we will be going by at about 4pm, would be a good meet spot

We usually stop at the Quick check in Chester then Hackettstown for food, lots of options there.
Some guys do a little grilling in camp too. Up to you…The firepits seem to have grates.
Probably a couple of us will have stoves going , coffee in the a.m. etc…
Let me check w/ our Disc Golf specialist Doug, to see if we are giving the course in Budd Lake a shot….

    1. I have a new idea for the disc golf. My original plan was to play the course that’s right next to Stephens. However, that course is privately owned and we would need to talk to the owner to play there. I think it literally starts and ends in his yard and goes back through the woods behind his house. Since I don’t know exactly how many woulld want to play, exactly what time we’d be there, how many of us etc… I’m going to change up the idea.

What do you guys think of playing the course at Roxbury High School? It goes around all the athletic fields, and is open whenever scholl isn’t in session. The course is pretty simple, no trees in the way, doesn’t go through woods or water hazards, only 9 holes… It’s the perfect place to learn how to play! Plus it’s close to the columbia trail if we want to get a little gravel section in the ride. What do you guys think? If we play RHS, there’s no need to contact anyone to play, and no player limit (also no beer on the course though LOL).

      1. RHS is a little far afield but I’m down if everybody else want to go over there. I’ll be spectating… my right hand is a bit wonky after I crashed my bmx chasing the kids around. Could also work it into another trip…
