I don’t know about you, but I’ve got spring fever! Planning a camping trip helps ease the sickness!
Pack up your panniers, batten down your baskets, stuff your bike-packing™ bags. Lets spin to Kittatinny Valley State Park in Andover, NJ to our reserved camp site (Site A). Meet at Denville clocktower, ready to roll at 12pm on a 25 mile ride. I really look forward to riding about 7 miles of the Sussex Branch Trail that leads almost directly to our camp. Leisurely paced ride with regroups. Bring some bucks to pay for the site. Food to share is cool! A few nearby options for food & refreshments in town a couple miles from camp. Early April weather is so variable, maybe we’ll be swimming in the lakes & creeks along the way or maybe we’ll still be donning our winter gear, come prepared. Heavy steady rain cancels. Adventure awaits!!!
“…this road is the gate to a hidden world that we are allowed to visit now and then. It’s a place where you live in the moment, where there are no obligations except to those to your companions, where all that counts is a bike that works and legs that can pedal. The complexities and responsibilities of our daily lives are stripped down to an almost primal existence for a few days. When we return, we are recharged for our daily lives. Yet in idle moments, our minds wander to distant roads and glorious views.” Heine, Jan. “Bike Test J.P. Weigle Randonneur” Bicycle Quarterly, Issue 50, 22-36. Print

This looks like an amazing ride. I hope to join you guys but it’s still up in the air. I have a lot going on. Will keep you posted as the date gets closer. BTW, I love the quote by Heine, Jan.
