Let’s mix things up a bit and take the train and ride back.
Starting at the Morristown Green at 5pm, we will ride to the Morristown train station to take the 5:23pm train to Summit. Each ticket is $4.10. The train will save 10 miles and 1 hour of time, while keeping us warm—worth it in my opinion.
We then make our way back to Morristown. We will go through Summit, Chatham, Madison, Florham Park, and Morristown. Many good spots marked, but it will be an exploratory ride.
- When & Where: Sunday, December 21st, 5:00pm at the fountain on the Morristown Green
- Temperature: Too soon to tell. Bring your gloves and lights.
- Distance: 23 miles (about 2.5 hours). No-drop pace — everyone rides together.
- Terrain: New roads and areas for most riders, some urban-ish areas, bunch of quaint little towns set up for Christmas, no major roads…. and what would a Brian ride be without cut throughs and gravel roads? Expect some hills.
- Mid-ride pit stop for refreshments.
- Random snacks to share are always welcome.
- Check here for any updates! Rain, heavy snow, or icy conditions will cancel event.

Ride Recap

Two lifetime members braved the cold to embark on a new adventure by train. Despite being an unfamiliar route, we passed a few nostalgic landmarks and recognized faces from years past while traversing through Chatham and Madison. With the new moon casting a pitch-black backdrop, the Christmas lights seemed to shine even more brilliantly.
We saw massive inflatable penguins towering larger than houses, an eclectic mix of yard decorations, and strange, evil-looking characters that seemed to lurk amid usual festive displays.
Unfortunately, the highly anticipated destination in Florham Park was not set up, contrary to multiple sources. Nevertheless, the journey remained enjoyable, and we look forward to utilizing the train for more rides in the spring.
